Daedalus, I wonder if your planning to have Bloodlines Revival on Moddb hoping to bring a larger audience into the scene? (hence more contributors/team members/etc). I also found this along the way which looks like someone else was also attempting to import Bloodlines into Half-Life 2 but it looks like it hasn't been updated for a very long time.

I've thought about putting it on ModDB, but the biggest thing I'm worried about is potential legal issues.

Technically, the project isn't entirely legal (deconstructing and recreating the game as a mod for HL2) and whilst the end goal is simply to enhance the community and player's experience of Bloodlines, from a legal viewpoint the copyright owners may get upset.
It hasn't happened yet so maybe we'll vote on it.

More members would be a great way to get the mod steamrolling again, as presently I don't have much free time.

It's probably best to lay low... I remeber several mods being taken off of modb that attempted to recreate material from the Hl2 leak, and those were subsequently taken off (Missing Information). This is kinda along the same lines.

yup, I remmember e.g. the Duke Nukem: Source project ended this way, so it's probably better to keep it the way it is :)

Sorry to necro this thread, but I wanted to bring up that putting a profile on MODDB won't get the project in legal trouble if it hasn't already. I seem to remember a couple prominent gaming sites mentioning the Revival, but it seems there was no legal action over that.

As far as I can tell from other projects, the Revival is fine as long as it explicitly requires purchasing a legal copy of bloodlines (on steam?) and is offered free of charge.

That's true. Maybe I will.

It would coincide with something else we're bringing out soon.

Maybe you should create a group in steam community?

It seems there is an entry about Bloodlines Revival already. It's on the news section of VtMB. Someone posted it some time ago. The existence of the project gone wild after my trailer was posted on a game news site. It required only one to post it on such site, and that started a chain reaction. I am amazed of the happenings. It seems there are still a lot of fans there who loved the game and still love it and wishes to see the Revival project done soon. I wish there would be someone who could help with the programming part. A programmer could really boost the progress of the mod, and it could be finished all in just 3-4 months perhaps? The problem is there are some entities which the older games uses and they are required in the mod to get certain things work in the maps. I hope we will get it done soon.

Well, at this time I'm trying to port the UI elements from Vampires to Half-Life 2. And i have some ideas how to improve the interface.
I do not have much experience in programming, but I'll try to do it.

Even professional programmers could not do it so quickly.
I think it would be nice to create a design document. This will simplify the development. Need to disassemble the game to its elements and transfer them gradually.

I think it's good for this project to get major recognition which I hope it would bring floods of people in which we'll get more team members and other people willing to help to speed up the progress of this mod rather than taking years.

No, there isn't. There is no entry for the Revival in the Mod database. So someone should go and make it, so as to arouse interest in the project. I'm sure you be able to recruit some new team members through that avenue.

What I meant about the entries were the news entries posted by a random member at ModDB regarding the trailers on the VtMB game. But if Daedalus is OK about having the project on ModDB, I would be glad to create one and maintain it, release new contents, etc.
